Pablo grew up in a nominally Catholic home where God was understood through tradition alone. His mother is American and his father is Colombian. However, as his traditions were ripped apart at the age of thirteen by the divorce of his parents, Pablo sought after a relationship with God during an youth retreat. There at the altar, God not only met him but also called him to the mission field.
Following this call, Pablo pursued a missions degree at South Western Baptist Theological Seminary. He continued his education at SWBTS, earning a Masters of Divinity. Pablo finds joy in teaching others. He also enjoys a good cup of coffee and the fellowship experienced through sharing one. His great desire is to utilize his gifts and experience to meet needs and enable others to reach their potential.
Kim was raised in the Methodist church, where there was also an emphasis on missions. Her call came in a similar way to Pablo’s – at an altar at the age of fourteen. As Kim waited for God’s call within her to mature, she attended South Western Baptist Theological Seminary and became a high school history teacher. Her training has opened doors to speak into the lives of youth from junior high to college age.
With her love for building relationships and communication, Kim has found pleasure in forming friendships with the women in the countries where she ministers. While her first calling is to her family, Kim’s unique qualities make her a vital partner with Pablo in ministry.
We met at SWBTS during a freshman picnic. Pablo always says that Kim couldn’t keep her eyes off him. We have been sweethearts every since.
The Kids:
Marisa loves to read. She probably reads through more books in a year than most adults do. Her second passion is styling her hair. She loves Jesus and one day dreams of opening her own beauty shop/church. (We love to encourage creativity)
S.J. is our little scientist. He is always experimenting with something. This has led us to some very funny fire stories. He also loves Jesus and although he is a bit shy has learned to share his faith in a very special way.
Together we are independent missionaries with Take the Nations.
